Citrus juicers simply just extract the citrus water out of the fruit. If you’re only interested in making citrus juices like orange, lemon and grapefruit, then buying a citrus juicer will do the trick. Citrus juicers dispense unlimited quantities of juice directly into a glass or pitcher.
The citrus juicer is merely an electric version of a hand reamer, and can’t juice anything other than citrus. You’ll need a juice extractor if you want to juice vegetables or other fruits.
The Breville citrus juicer and the Braun Citrus juicer are good choices
there are two kinds of citrus juicers. Lets call them: citrus water, and total citrus juice.
Citrus water is the water that is squeezed from the segments of the fruit. This is the kind of juice that most people think of when they think of orange juice. This is the best juice from a citrus juicer. It is easily extracted from the fruit by usually a method of reaming, pressing or squeezing. This is the juice that is extracted solely from the segments of the fruit. (Sometimes this may be pulp-free or have a little bit of pulp.) You will find that citrus juicers make a much more fresh tasting juice then store bought.
Total citrus juice is the juice that is made from the citrus when the segments along with the white pith is juiced. A citrus juicer will not make this type of juice. This juice is harder to make, and requires a dedicated juice machine and not a citrus juicer. The juice you get is very creamy, frothy and foamy. Citrus juicers fruit juice contain nutrients lower than the total citrus juice, since most of the nutrients in citrus is contained in the white pith and/or the skin (such as Bioflavinoids). This type of juice does not taste as sweet as the citrus water. Most people have never had this type of juice. The white membrane under the skin (called the pith) or more correctly the albedo, contains almost as much vitamin C as the flesh of the fruit? The white stuff is also a good source of pectin- a soluble fiber that helps lower cholesterol levels. Oranges also contain vitamin C, potassium, calcium as well as the b vitamins niacin and thiamine.Oranges, grapefruits, lemons, limes, and tangerines, they are all citrus fruits, and due to the unique properties of the fruit generally require special citrus juicers to extract the juice from the fruit.
