How To Treat Diabetes By Juicing

How do you treat diabetes by juicing. This question comes up a lot because when most people thing about juicing they think it is only about juicing fruit.

Some of the best juices are made with only vegetables, so most diabetics don’t have to be stuck worrying about consuming too much sugar.

Having said that eating whole fruit and vegetables is probably the best thing a diabetic can do to improve their condition.

Monitoring your insulin levels is going to be very important during this process. Begin by juicing with vetetables only. There are great books available for recipes on juicing vegetalbes. One I can think of is “Green For Life”. Most vegetable juices begin with a green base like swiss chard, kale or dark green lettuces.

Only juice in the morning for the first week and monitor your insulin levels over the week. If they are stable you can start juicing at different times and also start getting more creative with the types of vegetables and fruit you use.

A dark green juice with lots of green vegetables should have very little effect on your insulin levels. You can begin by adding 1 fruit per juicing attempt and continue to monitor your insulin levels.

If you don’t notice much of a change then just get more creative. Go slowly and take your time. Don’t be in a hurry to juice all day long. Begin with one meal a day and just monitor your progress.

Remember to juice with the fiber of the vegetables and fruit. This will go a long way at helping you stabilize your blood sugars.

What Is A Citrus Juicer

A citrus juicer is probably one of the most basic juicers available. It is probably the first juicer that was on the market. A citrus juicer is a kitchen tool specifically designed for removing the juice from citrus. Both hand operated and electric versions are available, with many cooks preferring one or the other, depending on how much citrus needs to be juiced. Most cooks can find a use for a citrus juicer, making it an excellent tool to have around the kitchen and a good gift as well. Most kitchen supply stores stock citrus juicers, usually in a wide range of styles.

The most simple type of citrus juicer is a citrus reamer. A citrus reamer consists of a ridged cone attached to a handle. The consumer cuts a piece of fruit in half and holds it in one hand while pressing the conical part of the reamer against it to extract the juice. As a basic, easily used kitchen tool, a citrus reamer makes a great juicer. As one can imagine, using a citrus reamer for large volumes of juice can get tiring. A citrus reamer also does not strain out pulp or seeds.

Another type of manual juicer uses a two-part design, although in some cases the parts may be molded together. One part is a conical section mounted so that it faces upwards, and the other catches the juice. To use this type of citrus juicer, the cook presses a halved citrus fruit down on the conical section while pushing it back and forth to get all the juice out. In some instances, this style of citrus juicer includes a sieve for draining pulp and seeds, and it is more practical for larger amount of fruit.

Electric citrus juicers are the preferred type for high volumes of juicing. An electric juicer uses a motor to spin the conical section inserted into the fruit, allowing the cook to simply hold the fruit against it while the machine does the work. Usually, a larger reservoir is attached to an electrical citrus juicer so that the cook can juice a large volume of fruit at once. When making orange juice or lemonade for a big group, an electric juicer is a huge time saver over hand juicers. For people who are trying to integrate juicing into their diet, an electric juicer can also be a big help.

When picking out a citrus juicer, think about how much juicing you need to do. If you just need to juice a lime or lemon now and then for cooking, a hand juicer is probably sufficient. If you do a lot of juicing, an electric juicer would obviously be a better choice, and you may want to consider the options, which range from huge industrial juicers designed for commercial use to small electric juicers designed to produce a glass of orange juice at a time. Look for a sturdy, easily cleaned citrus juicer which will be easy to care for.

Citrus juicers are designed for the orange and grapefruit. Foods rich in potassium, such as ORANGES, may help reduce the risk of stroke and can reduce blood pressure.

The white membrane under the skin (called the pith) or more correctly the albedo, contains almost as much vitamin C as the flesh of the fruit? The white stuff is also a good source of pectin- a soluable fiber that helps lower cholesterol levels. Oranges also contain vitamin C, potassium, calcium as well as the b vitamins niacin and thiamine.

Transform your fridge

You don’t have to give up all the foods you’re used to eating to become more healthy and to start eating raw, organic and live foods. You know the best place to start changing your life and your diet? It’s at the grocery store, of course. Even if you’re at a good weight and pretty healthy, take a tip from dieters. Go shopping with a list and don’t go to the grocery store hungry. Make sure this shopping trip you can resist those Oreos and potato chips.

Clean out your refrigerator and your cabinets. Throw out the half-empty bags of snack foods. Put any microwaveable foods in a dark bag and stash them somewhere in the back of the freezer. Out of sight, out of mind.

Do stock up on dried fruits and nuts for snacking. Transform your kitchen from a processed food haven to a healthy kitchen. Invest in a good juicer. Clean out those crisper drawers to get them ready for an influx of new organic and raw foods.

Load up on fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains. If you can’t give up meat and fish, consider getting super fresh tuna that you can just sear and serve with sesame seeds and a small amount of soy sauce. (I’m getting hungry just thinking about this!)

Make eating this way fun. Invest in those big, white square dishes that are good for serving sushi. It’s easier to arrange small portions of different foods that way. And getting new white dishes will be symbolic of this new, purer way of eating. Get some good chopsticks so you can take your time eating. This is really fun!

Go to a bookstore and get a cookbook or a food book so you can learn about eating raw foods. Buy a big vase and a bunch of sunflowers to symbolize letting the sun into your diet.

Healthy Fruit Juice

Fresh fruit juice is absolutely delicious. Most people, including myself,  like fruit juice because it is sweet tasting and highly flavorful.

Fruit juices, and fruits in general, are often referred to as the  cleansers of the body. Fruits are referred to as cleansers because their  natural acidity helps the body clean itself of unwanted bacteria.

In many cultures you will actually see many people drinking water  with some lemon juice added to it. Over the years, these cultures have  instinctively realized the benefits of even the slightest amount of  fruit juice.

If you are looking for some great healthy fruit juice ideas and recepies,  then look no further then the vitamix  blender. Using your vitamix blender  can be a great addition to your kitchen allowing you a great tool to  make healthy fruit juice.

The first thing that is important in creating healthy fruit juice is  making sure that you use the whole fruit to juice with. Being able to  consume the whole fruit fibre, juice and all is really important in  trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I usually like to add a variety of color of fruits to my blender when  making healthy fruit juice because this way I am making sure I am getting  a variety of anti-oxidants and nutrients to my diet.

When making healthy fruit juices, I always encourage people to use  dark leafy green vegetables like Swiss chard or kale to the juice as  well. If you want a more fruiter juice then just add more fruit in proportion  to the amount of vegetables that you use.

A typical juice that I make in the morning with my vitamix  blender as a few leaves of Swiss chard or kale, and apple and a  banana and usually a couple of handfuls of fresh berries or frozen berries.  I will also add a vegan protein power with some hemp seed, ground flax  and any other dissolvable nutrient that you would like to add such as  vitamin C etc.

You have a choice as to how thick you would like your juice as if you  remember from above making sure we consume the fiber part is really  important. If you like a thick juice don’t use as much water or  add more water if you like it more thinly.

Healthy fruit juice is a real vital component to a healthy diet. In  North America we are challenged everyday to get enough nutrients, and  concentrated fruits and vegetables in a natural whole food juice is  a great way to keep the body balance and healthy.

There really is no right or wrong way to make a healthy fruit juice.  All you need to be is open to the possibility of experimenting. Every  individual has there own preference or favorite vegetable and fruit  so start with that first.

I love combining banana’s and dark berries. They give such a  great unique taste and I always feel full afterwards. The great thing with the vitamix blender is that it is easy to clean  and the juicing is fast so it is a wonderful way to experiment to find  your favourite combinations of fruit and vegetables and a quick natural  breakfast.

When it comes to choosing a healthy diet for your body, many people  don’t realize the important role that beverages play. For example, fruit  flavored drinks and soft drinks are not a substitute for real fruit.  Many of these drinks only contain 10% real fruit juice. The very best  drinks are made from whole fruit and you can make great fruity healthy  drinks at home.

The more whole fruits and vegetables that you eat the healthier you  will become. Having a healthy  fruit juice everyday is a great easy way to make sure that happens.

Juicing For High Blood Pressure

One of the common questions I often get that concerns many people with the issue of juicing lots of fruit is the impact that it has on high blood sugar. Consuming lots of fruits equates to lots of sugar and concerns many people with high blood sugar. The assumption is if you load the body with lots of sugar in the form of fruit then you will create havoc with the insulin levels of the body and you will create a blood sugar problem. I find this is just simply a fear thing. With the right tools, even if you have high blood sugar juicing can be very healthy to your body and probably help to stabilize your blood sugar levels.

This argument would have to be true if we are comparing apples to apples meaning if we are comparing pure sugar as in processed foods with pure sugar. Fruit, even high in sugar goes through a whole different process in the body to be broken down into sugar. It is more natural, sustaining and stabilizes the bodies metabolism.

If an individual has already high blood sugar and is switching to a juicing diet, I will always recommend that they ease into the whole diet change slowly because if their blood sugar is high it is because they have had a bad history of processed food consumption and changing to a whole food all natural diet is going to be difficult. They will go through a kind of detoxification before they will feel better, so they only juice maybe once a day.

Consuming whole natural food is how the body was designed to eat, and juicing fruits and vegetables is part of that natural component. Because we will be consuming a higher quantity of fruit when we juice, one of the things that I do to add to my juice is a good fibre addition. So, if I am making a juice for my morning breakfast and it happens to have a lot of fruit in it. I will add a scoop of a good all natural fibre like flaxseed to the juice.

Adding fibre will not only help with colon health it will help with any concerns of high blood sugar because fibre does a great job at helping to stabilize insulin levels.

The quick answer then to helping control high blood sugar while juicing is to add a good fibre supplement to your juice on a daily basis to help balance the amount of whole natural sugar that is entering the body.

Rather then going cold turkey and just juicing for the sake of juicing, it is really important to find a good book on juicing and really understand the concepts and the type of recipes that are available. Knowledge is power. Power needs preparation and you can only get that through education.

Juicing with fruits and vegetables is for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you have no blood sugar or high blood sugar, adding juicing to your diet is good for your health and will add more quality to your life in the end.

Tomatoe Canning Juicer

Tomatoe, canning and juicer. What an odd name for an article!!!! How am I going to possibly tie all of these three words together. The answer is really quite simple. There is no easier way to provide a great anti-oxidant all winter long then canning some tomatoes and then using tomatoe canning with a juicer in a breakfast juice, so you can maximize the anti-oxidants that the body recieves.

Tomatoes are very high in nutrients that kill unwanted cells. Taking them in high quantity like a breakfast juice every morning will be very beneficial for the body. Tomatoe canning and your juicer is a great way to keep the cancer cells at bay.

When tomatoes are in season I will usually by a huge box and can them. I always buy organic, can them in mason jars and that way I can be sure that I have fresh tomatoes for the winter when I need to keep my antioxidant levels high.

I of course always use my Vita mix blender and will usually blend two tomatoes in my juice mix. I will add fresh fruit to give the juice a nice stweetened taste.

Usually what I will do in the morning is add a couple swiss chard leaves to my vitamix blender, add some frozen fruit like cherries or peaches, maybe even an apple or banana if I have it on hand. I will add a couple of canned tomatoes and then add things like flaxseed or Vegan protein powder to make a wholistic drink that tastes good and is good for the cells of my body.

Tomatoe canning and juicer. They could just save your life!!!!!
